 This year, beginning with the FY 2024 grant cycle, the ABC Board will be implementing a mandatory Letter of Intent (LOI) process for both the Small Grant Program and the Annual Grant Program to be submitted through Foundant, our Online Grants Management System.

To help all prospective applicants prepare, the ABC Board is offering five drop-in Grant Information Sessions at various locations throughout Mecklenburg County. We invite you to come chat with us about your organization’s eligibility, the LOI/grant process, and your project ideas.

The LOI will serve as each nonprofit organization’s initial request to the ABC Board and will help to ensure that the organization is eligible for an ABC Board grant and is proposing a project idea that is in alignment with the purpose of ABC Board grant funding prior to submitting a full application.

The LOI process is also an opportunity for the ABC Board grantmaking team and prospective applicants to work together in the early stages of the grant cycle. Through the LOI, the ABC Board team can assess community interest in the grant program prior to receiving full proposals and screen for projects that fully align. As well, this will help us to determine how many community-based evaluators will be needed for the review process.

Through the LOI, we will request information about eligibility, organizational budget/financials, Charitable Solicitation License, leadership, and a summary of the project idea and how it meets the funding focus areas of the ABC Board. All LOIs that are screened favorably will receive an invitation to apply during the competitive grant cycle.
