Purchase Policies
Persons under the age of 21 in our stores
It is the policy of the Mecklenburg County ABC Board to prohibit anyone 18, 19, or 20 years of age from entering our stores. Children under the age of 18 may enter our stores, as long as they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Acceptable Forms of ID
It is the responsibility of the customer to prove they are 21 years of age. The forms of ID acceptable in Mecklenburg County ABC Stores include
- EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, WE WILL NO LONGER ACCEPT PAPER ID’S AS A VALID FORM OF VERIFICATION IN MECKLENBURG COUNTY ABC SPIRITS stores. (not even with an expired driver's license)
- A valid U.S. driver's license (If using either a temporary or state-issued paper license it must have the customer's picture on it. Any state-issued paper license must be accompanied with the expired license).
- A valid state ID card issued by any state agency of any U.S. state authorized to issue official state special identification cards for that state
- A valid North Carolina ID card issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles
- A valid passport (or passport card issued in the United States)
- A valid U.S. Military ID
Group ID Policy
It is the policy of the Mecklenburg County ABC Board to immediately check the ID of any young person, as soon as they enter our store. An entire group of people can be refused if any member of the group is underage or unable to produce an acceptable form of ID.
Return Policy
A customer may return up to four unopened bottles of liquor to our stores for a refund on the payment media they used at the time of the sale, as long as they have the original sales receipt. If a customer wants to return an unopened bottle of liquor and does NOT have their sales receipt, refund will be issued on a gift card.
