Anuvia Prevention and Recovery

Under state law, at least 7% of the proceeds of an ABC Board must be dedicated to alcohol education. For more than 66 years, the Mecklenburg County ABC Board has supported education, prevention, and treatment services to stop alcohol and other substance abuse in our community.

The largest recipient of funds from the Mecklenburg County ABC Board is Anuvia Prevention and Recovery Center.

Anuvia’s unique role is seeking and welcoming people who face barriers to care because they lack insurance coverage, are Medicaid consumers or fail to qualify for Medicaid, or have no financial means to pay for the needed services. Anuvia provides a sliding fee scale to ensure no one is turned away. Bus tickets, meals, and other services are also often provided to enhance services.

In addition to assessments, short- and long-term outpatient treatment, Anuvia provides detox and in-patient treatment, adolescent services, Latino services, court services, medication management, and an array of science-based prevention initiatives. Additionally, 25 different 12-Step groups meet weekly at Anuvia’s main campus, 100 Billingsley Road.

Founded in 1958, Anuvia is an independent non-profit organization that serves more than 20,000 people each year and is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

Access to services is made possible by the funding provided by the Mecklenburg County ABC Board.
