As the population in the county grows, we stay focused on meeting the needs of a changing demographic.
In 2004, the results of a 6 month study identified the changing demographics of Mecklenburg County. The study was to identify the public’s need for new store locations and the relocation or closing of others. Key areas of growth and new corridors of traffic movement throughout the county, as well as store performance trends, were used to plot a list of new stores, relocations, renovations, and closings. The “Property Development Program” is a work in progress--designed to assess and meet the needs of the growing public who reside and work in Mecklenburg County.

Taking the study to the next step, a review of possible new site locations allowing the most convenient shopping experience for customers led us to Mint Hill, Matthews, Pineville, and the Southpark area (see map above). The initiative focused on choosing sites which would align stores with traffic corridors utilizing drive times, density, growth patterns and traffic volumes noted in the study.
The results culminated in the Property Development Program's Project Timeline.
