Charged with the control and distribution of spirituous beverages throughout the County of Mecklenburg, we opened our first stores in 1947.

The design began with counter stores, manned by clerks who retrieved products for their clientele from behind that counter.  Throughout the years, additional locations and new store designs have been created to meet the changing needs of the citizens of Mecklenburg County.

Along with the responsibilities of providing spirituous beverages for customers, we are charged with utilizing profits to benefit the community.  As illustrated under Profit Distributions, it is evident that the tasks of preserving those sales within the county while serving the county's population are vital goals.   

Entering the Millennium, we saw population growth within the cities of Charlotte, Pineville, Matthews, Mint Hill, and Huntersville. That growth created new requirements for retail customers, restaurant, and bar sales.  Also, distillers began to develop new products with a multitude of new flavors; making the task of product availability to our adult customers a daunting challenge.
